Welcome to Religious Education at the ALUUC. Our program provides Sunday morning religious education classes for children from preschool through high school, as well as a staffed nursery for children aged two years and younger.
We support and nurture the spiritual growth of our youth and our volunteer teachers through worship, fellowship, service to others and structured learning experiences. We match curricula to our youths’ needs so that children are exposed to Unitarian Universalism and other religious paths. In addition, we often offer curricula that explore issues related to social justice, personal growth, and wrestling with the Big Questions we face in life. Youth are grouped, flexibly, by age, and can, to an extent, choose the class that best meets their readiness.

It is important that our youth see themselves as active and valued members of the church community. Each month we take a Sunday off from regular classes and hold a Children’s RE Worship Service or Intergenerational Service. The church year runs from late August to May. During the summer months, members of the congregation volunteer to share their time and talent with our children as a whole group on Sunday mornings.

Children’s RE Worship Service
Children’s RE Worship Service is a time when all ages of Religious Education students come together as a community. Adult members of the congregation are sometimes invited to coordinate the service or the DRE leads the service. The usual components of such a service include readings or stories, art activities or projects, snacks and a group game. Older students help younger children and there is often singing or poetry recited together. These are special times that foster a sense of shared values among the larger group of children at the ALUUC.
Volunteer Teachers are still needed.
If you would like to volunteer, please contact Pat Woods at firstname.lastname@example.org.
