August 26 ~ Humanist Group ~ ALUUC

August 26 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

“I hold my peace, sir? no;
No, I will speak as liberal as the north;
Let heaven and men and devils, let them all,
All, all, cry shame against me, yet I’ll speak.”
― Emilia, Othello

Maurine Magliocco (retired professor of English at Western Illinois University) will facilitate the ALUUC Humanist Group’s discussion of William Shakespeare’s play Othello at 7 PM on Monday evening, August 26, at ALUUC. First performed around 1604, Othello is a pioneering exploration of racial prejudice. Professor Magliocco will discuss the play’s political implications and its relevance to current events.
