April 28, 2019 Sunday Service ~ Be Joyful Though You Have Considered All The Facts ~ Dr. Amy McEuen

April 28 @ 10:30 am - 12:00 pm

For this Earth Day, we will hear from Amy McEuen, PhD.
Amy McEuen has a PhD in Terrestrial Ecology from the University of Michigan and currently teaches ecology and conservation biology at University of Illinois Springfield. One of her “stretch goals” is to stop a 6th mass extinction; volunteers are welcome to join her on this quest. In addition to her work at the university, she is increasingly involved in science advocacy including emceeing Springfield’s March for Science in 2017. She also is a lover of poems and her talk for Earth Day will include stanzas from poems by Mary Oliver and Wendell Berry, including the stanza from Berry’s poem, “Manifesto”, quoted in the talk title. She will reflect on the 7th UU principle, our role in nature, and nature’s role in our lives.
