During his lifetime, Nelson Mandela has emerged as not only a dominant political leader but a spiritual one as well. What are the spiritual lessons that he embraced and modeled?

Martin Luther King Jr. is of course rightly lionized as the drum major of the Civil Rights Movement during the 1950‘s & 1960‘s; what else did he stand for? In what way were his later concerns and actions religious? Are they relevant to the Occupy Movement?

This Sunday (10/23/2011), in an effort to raise funds for the upcoming Senior Youth Con, our Senior Youth Group will be providing delicious baked goods for the coffee hour. So enjoy the treats they are providing, and please show your appreciation and monetary support by feeding the accompanying donation basket as well.

In this service, we will examine the fifth Principle typically celebrated by UUs. How do we promote this ideal, as individuals and as a denomination? Does an individual‘s conscience ultimately trump all other concerns?

ALUUC Announcements September 18, 2011

ALUUC will celebrate its annual ingathering service on Sunday, September 11th with a Water & Stone Communion. As in previous years, members and friends are invited to share spiritual insights gleaned during the summer; now is the time to gather stones and/or water for this special service.

There will be a potluck on Sunday ( Sept 11th) after the service. Please bring a dish if you are able. We are doing a local theme in conjunction with a Walk and Talk , Saturday, Sept 10th at the Downtown Farmers Market. We will meet at 9:00 AM in front of the Elf Shelf. We will walk the market and try to find goodies for the Potluck on Sunday. It would be great if you can join us. The theme of the potluck is local food. If you could make something for the potluck with something purchased locally that would be great but if you can’t that is okay too. Anything you can provide would be appreciated. If you need more information on the Potluck or the Walk and Talk, please contact Randy Pratt
