Senior Youth Group – 9th thru 12th Grades
Senior Youth Group Advisors: Kelly Anderson and Mike Haynes
- The Senior Youth Group meets from 3-5 pm in the Channing Room at ALUUC on the following Sundays:
- September 19, 26
- October 3, 10, 17
- November 7, 14, 21
- December 5, 12, 19
The Sr. Youth program follows the UUA principles for building a strong youth program.
- Worship
- Leadership
- Social Action
- Adult-Youth Relations
- Community Building
- Learning
These components consist of:
Youth advisors and youth spend the church year doing several activities focusing on a number of the above components. The youth gather together most Sunday afternoons from 3-5pm and all high school youth (or home school equivalent) are invited to attend!
The ALUUC Sr. Youth view the group as a family and as a safe place to come for friendship and support. We strive to encourage each other any way that we can as we all are part of the human experience!

We recently hosted a conference for the youth in our district and learned many lessons about ourselves, our faith and our ability to become leaders. We hope to continue to grow with those experiences and meet even greater challenges as a group!

From the September Newsletter
The Senior Youth held their “Welcome Back Lock-In” on August 21st. The group spent time reconnecting with old and new friends as well as creating the calendar for the new church year. This semester will focus on discussions surrounding being UU and how that translates into our every day lives.
The Sr. Youth will not have routine gatherings in the morning time for RE due to space needs for the OWL class. The group felt strongly that the OWL class needed a quiet space and wanted to be sure it was available to them. Instead, Sr.Youth group members may choose to stay in the service.
We will continue our afternoon meetings 3-5p.m. on most Sundays. We will begin our first session September 12th and invite all high school age kids (Freshman to Senior) to join us!
The Fall Con is mid-October, so mark your calendars to save the date!
We welcome Kelly Anderson as an advisor this year as well! Meg Schnake is spending more time with family and we thank her for the many years of service and leadership she brought to the Sr. Youth program!
